Regional Sales Manager Jobs
Also known as Regional Business Managers or RBM, these positions are first line management roles and will have been awarded as a direct result of you consistently demonstrating first class selling skills out in the field coupled with the soft skills required to coach, mentor and ultimately develop sales professionals. This is the traditional career route and is seen as the first promotion on the Scientific Sales Management ladder.
A Regional Sales Manager's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to planning a company's sales campaigns, developing the skills of the sales team, smoothly implementing technological changes, consulting and collaborating with company executives and proactively reviewing the outcomes of the company's sales efforts.
You may still be required to have key accounts of your own to manage but most if not all Regional Sales Manager's come from successful sales backgrounds but typically do very little actual selling. Instead, they develop and implement the training programmes and incentives that will motivate their sales force to do well. Additionally, Regional Sales Managers outline the department goals and collect forecasted goals for all of the salespeople in the region. They additionally hold their sales team accountable, assessing Key Performance Indicators and ultimately reviewing performance against projected sales forecasts.
Highly rewarding these positions are also seen as training grounds to test the qualities of their sales staff and groom for senior management.
